Bio:

Dr. Pamela E. Toto is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh. She is Board Certified in Gerontology and a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), where she formerly served as the chair of the Gerontology Special Interest Section. She is a co-editor of the text Strategies to Advance Gerontology Excellence: Promoting Best Practice in Occupational Therapy and the author of several AOTA Fact Sheets related to productive aging. Dr. Toto has over 20
years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist, providing services to older adults as both a clinician and manager in the community and in long term care settings. This experience has influenced her research agenda, which includes the impact of best practice physical activity program on ADL performance in older adults and use of environmental supports to enhance function in
community-dwelling older adults. She has participated in research studies examining function in older adults with osteoarthritis, depression, and adults who have experienced a cardiac arrest. Dr. Toto is a longstanding volunteer with Rebuilding Together and is a national event coordinator for CarFit, a joint program sponosored by AAA, AARP, and AOTA that targets driving safety for older adults.
