Comparison of efficacy of kinesiological taping and subacromial injection therapy in subacromial impingement syndrome

Instructions:

Kinesiological taping was applied using the insertion-origin muscle and space correction technique.  I- type strips were used and light (15–25 %) tension for the supraspinatus with the arm in adduction and then a Y- shaped strip was applied to the deltoid muscle with light (15–25 %) tension using the insertion-origin muscle technique. The first tail of the second strip was applied to the anterior deltoid while the arm was externally rotated and horizontally abducted, and the other tail for the posterior deltoid was applied with the arm horizontally adducted and internally rotated. The third strip was applied from the coracoid process to the posterior deltoid with 50 to 75 % stretch for glenohumeral mechanical correction by the same physiotherapist in all patients. Tape was applied once a week three times, with 5-day on and 2-day off regimens, to allow skin rest in between applications
