All product-supported research must investigate outcomes directly related to Thera-Band® or BIOFREEZE® products. Special preference will be given to studies that investigate the following research initiatives:

Qualitative analysis of Thera-Band color-coded progression in terms of motivation, compliance, etc
EMG and outcomes analysis of progressive balance training with Stability Trainers
EMG/Biomechanical analysis of FlexBar oscillation
Effectiveness of hand therapy at home with Thera-Band products
Effectiveness of Thera-Band Stretch Strap
Effectiveness of “active engagement” with Thera-Band or Stretch Strap combined with massage on muscle length
Effectiveness of eccentric stretch on plantar fasciitis with Stretch Strap or Thera-Band
Effectiveness of Biofreeze application on joint mobilization
Effectiveness of Biofreeze on low back pain, neck/shoulder pain, foot pain, and hand pain; with or without massage

1. Investigators must conform to Federal Drug Adminstration (FDA) guidelines for company-sponsored research: 

• Research support (product or monetary) will only be provided to studies on outcomes covered under FDA guidelines. All studies will be ‘adequately designed and conducted.’ In certain circumstances, research may be supported outside of the guidelines, but such information generated cannot be used outside of the guidelines.
• Any research cited or provided for reprints must first conform to the “on-label” guidelines.
• Clinical trials must be registered with clinicaltrials.gov prior to support (except Phase I and small feasibility trials). The investigator will be the responsible party for complying with the requirements of clinicaltrials.gov

2. Prospective researchers must submit the following:

• A completed on-line research application form (Only electronic submissions will be accepted)
• Copy of IRB (Ethics Board) approval or pending approval (email to Dr. Phil Page , Director of Clinical Education & Research)

2. All supported research MUST have evidence of approval (ie letter from IRB, etc) by an institutional review board (IRB).

3. The proposal will be reviewed by Hygenic Corporation and it's representatives. A response will be returned to the investigators within 2 weeks with suggestions and questions.

4. By submitting a proposal, investigators give permission to The Hygenic Corporation to use project information on the Academy website and in other materials.

5. Once the study has begun, the researcher is requested to maintain contact with Hygenic on a semi-annual basis. Regular updates will be requested via email or website submission.

6. In return for support, The Hygenic Corporation requests that the investigators submit their findings via email to Hygenic at the end of the study in abstract form, as well as a reprint of all articles and presentations generated by the supported research (including appropriate citations).

7. Investigators should disclose the donation of free products from The Hygenic Corporation

8. Investigators are encouraged to specify the use of the particular Thera-Band® product by brand name within the methods of the study. The proper use of the trademark is Thera-Band® product*, ie., Thera-Band® Elastic Bands; do not use Thera-Band® as a noun, such as "Therabands".

*Products include Thera-Band® Resistive Bands, BIOFREEZE® Topical Analgeic, Prossage® Heat, Thera-Band® Tubing, Thera-Band® Exercise Balls, Thera-Band® Hand Exercisers, Thera-Band® Progressive Hand Trainer, Thera-Band® FlexBar, Thera-Band® Stability Trainer, ParabathTM, AquafinsTM, and other aquatic therapy products.
